About
Verity Ure-Jones is a portrait and figurative painter based in London who works primarily in oil paint and pastels on wooden panel and paper.
Verity is interested in exploring themes of intimacy, contemplation and longing . Casting reflections and questions onto the viewer, she invites a shared moment of emotion. Verity is fascinated with human connection and what it means simply to present your physicality in our current climate.
Verity’s signature technique of focusing on line within the human form explores the subtleties between illustration and fine art painting. She is interested in finding the vulnerability in each sitter and fleshing out the untold stories unique to them.
Her main sources of inspiration include Austrian Secessionist artists Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt as well as Alice Neel, Toulouse-Lautrec, Kathy Kollowitz and John Singer Sergant. She studied Visual Art and Design at The Brit School and has been taking on commissions since 2023.
